Overview

A USB battery charging/power feeding system supports USB Battery Charging Specification Revision 1.2 (henceforth, USB BC1.2), an extended version of the USB standard.

In recent years, while the demand for charging by USB port is increasing, the rise in battery capacity due to increasingly advanced functionality of battery-run devices has also caused a strong demand for fast charging.

USB BC1.2 was created to standardize this sort of fast charging. By making the traditional 500 mA current of VBUS power supply specified by the USB 2.0 port specifications support USB BC1.2, up to 1.5 A can be used during charging, making application to fast charging possible.
