Residential breakers are line voltage protection devices that disconnect loads in the event of faults. A series of faults results in an arc formation or a leakage current to Earth. Arc fault circuit interrupters (AFCI) and ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) are used to detect the faults and disconnect the line from the load. TI reference designs and semiconductors: Condition the input current by allowing the high frequency arc signal to propagate, while suppressing the white noise and other frequency components Use ultra-low power, high-speed data transfer and integrated peripherals to digitize and detect arc signatures Convert line voltages to steady DC at high efficiency levels using the fewest number of components
